Policy Ignite! Fall 2019 conference is coming up
Policy Ignite! is planning its Fall 2019 event on November 6, held in partnership with FWD50. To implement brilliant ideas, policy innovators need to draw on an ever-diversifying set of skills and practices. Instead of focusing on brilliant policy ideas, they will feature speakers sharing the top skills and best practices they have used to work on brilliant policy in Canada.
From data science to innovation management to consultations and networking for influence, they’ll feature a blend of FWD50 presenters and experts from the Government of Canada and beyond. The speakers will share their “secret sauces” around how they’ve used these skills and practices in their work - and how you could too.
- Date: Wednesday, November 6, 2019
- Time: 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET
- Location: Aberdeen Pavilion at Lansdowne Park, 1000 Exhibition Way, Ottawa, ON K1S 3W7
If you are interested in participating in one of these courses, please discuss with your supervisor for approval before proceeding.

POLAR’S PEOPLE
Celebrating Thanksgiving Day in Cambridge Bay
POLAR staff in Cambridge Bay and Ottawa teamed up to provide delicious turkeys for the Kullik Elementary School Annual Thanksgiving dinner for Cambridge Bay community elders and students.
Pictured is our Lab Manager, Martin Leger, with some of the turkeys that were purchased through our employees’ donations.
Thank you POLAR staff for your heart-warming generosity.
Public Service and Procurement Canada’s Deputy Minister visits the CHARS campus
Earlier this month, Bill Matthews, Public Service and Procurement Canada’s (PSPC) Deputy Minister, traveled to Cambridge Bay to visit the CHARS campus for the first time.
During his time with us, he visited our state-of-the-art facility and learned more about POLAR’s Knowledge Management & Engagement and Science & Technology programs. DM Matthews also met with POLAR staff to hear about their work and involvement with POLAR, as well as with the Kitikmeot Chamber of Commerce, located in the Informal Business area of the CHARS campus.
